Dostek Model 440A BTR Firmware Update

This download installs files on your computer needed to update firmware in a Dostek Model 440A Behind-the-Tape Reader (BTR). The download includes:

  • The firmware file.
  • The utility software you need to install the firmware to the BTR.
  • Detailed installation instructions.

A password is required to download this update. To obtain the password, contact Dostek.

To install the update files on your computer, the Dostek DNC software (supplied with your BTR) must already be installed on your computer.

 

Warning:

If a problem occurs or you make a mistake while updating the BTR firmware, your BTR may become inoperable. Exercise caution. Follow the procedure exactly. If you need help, contact Dostek.

Downloading BTR Firmware Update

To install the BTR firmware update files to your computer:
  1. Close all open applications, documents and windows on your computer, except for this Web browser window.
  2. Click Download below. A "File download" or similar dialog box appears.

    If the Download button does not work, click your browser's "Refresh" button and try again.

  3. Click Save in the the "File download" dialog box. The "Save as" dialog box appears.

  4. Specify a location to save the downloaded file. Pick a location you can easily find later. For example, pick "Desktop" or "My Documents".
  5. Click Save. The download begins. When the download is finished, the "Download Complete" dialog box appears.

  6. Choose an action depending on whether you are installing the software on the current computer or a different computer:
    1. Click Run to install the software on the current computer.
    2. Click Open folder to install the software on a different computer, then:
      • Copy the downloaded file to the other computer.
      • Open the downloaded file to begin installation.

  7. If a security warning message appears when you start Setup, click Run. This update is safe to install.
  8. Follow Setup's on-screen instructions to complete the installation. The firmware update files are saved to your computer.
  9. To view instructions for installing the firmware update to the BTR:
    1. On your computer, start the Dostek DNC Navigator application.
    2. Select the 440A BTR tab.
    3. Click the 440A BTR Firmware Update link. The firmware update instructions open.
    4. Follow the instructions to complete the firmware update. Contact Dostek if you need help.

Note:

Store a copy of the downloaded file in a safe location. You may need it again in future.
