Dostek DNC™
USING "CLASSIC" DNC COMMUNICATION
Loading or drip-feeding a file to the CNC using Dostek DNC's "Classic" communication is a simple 3-step process:
Open Dostek DNC File Manager.

Your folders are listed in File Manager's left window. Select a folder to view its files in the right window. With Dostek DNC, you can:
- Create sub folders to organize your files by machine, by product, or by customer.
- Choose which folders are available to CNC operators. Access folders on local hard drives, network drives (mapped drives or UNC names), or removable media.
- Manage files: edit, copy, move, rename or delete files.
- Find files by name, date or content. For example, you can find all files containing a specific part number or tool.
- Customize the layout, fonts and features, including the command buttons displayed at the right edge of File Manager's window.
- Require a password for modifying files or changing settings.
Select a file, and then click Send. The Dostek DNC Communication window opens, and is ready to send the file to the CNC machine.

With Dostek DNC, you can:
- Preview the file before you start sending.
- Customize a pop-up window to remind the CNC operator which commands to use at the CNC.
- Select multiple files, and load them all in a single operation.
- When drip-feeding, automatically restart from the beginning (emulate a tape loop).
- Drip-feed to several CNC machines at the same time (Professional and Ultimate editions).
- Automatically select a communication set-up by matching the file location (folder name) to a CNC configuration.
Go to the CNC machine and execute a program read, input, load, run or start command to load the program into the CNC's memory, or run the program directly from the computer (drip feed).
With Dostek DNC, you can:
- Prepare the transfer before you go to the CNC. The transfer begins automatically; there's no need to get the CNC ready first.
- See the program scrolling on the computer screen as the CNC machine reads or executes it.
- Stop, start or restart anywhere in the file.
Drip-Feeding Large Files
With Dostek DNC, the procedure for drip-feeding large files directly from the computer is the same as for loading programs into the CNC's memory, except that you can also:
- Start, or restart, from any position within the program.
- Automatically repeat the same program multiple times.
Note:
- Drip-feeding is optional, or not possible, with some CNC models.
Receiving Files Using "Classic" DNC
With Dostek DNC, receiving from the machine to the computer is also an easy process:
- Open Dostek DNC File Manager.
- Select the folder where you want received files to be stored.
- Click Receive.
- Go to the CNC, and send (punch) one or more programs.
With Dostek DNC, you can:
- Store each program in a separate file, or store multiple programs in a single file.
- Store multiple programs without returning to the computer each time.
-
Automatically name received files according to the program number or a part number
stored in the program. For example, save a file that starts with "$1234 (A49-77B SHAFT)"
as any of the following:
1234
A49-77B
A49-77B SHAFT
1234 (A49-77B SHAFT)
-
Include a customizable name prefix and suffix when automatically naming files. For example,
include the machine name as a prefix, or a file type as a suffix:
LB15 A49-77B.TAP
