USING "REMOTE" DNC COMMUNICATION

With Dostek DNC's "remote" DNC, you send commands to the computer directly from the CNC console. You can use remote DNC to:

Reduce set-up time. Commands are executed using the CNC's console; there is no need to walk to a computer to transfer files.
Decrease equipment and maintenance cost by eliminating shop-floor computers. A single computer can serve up to 64 CNCs.
Improve security. CNC operators don't need physical access to the computer.

Loading and Running Programs

Loading or running (drip-feeding) a program from the computer is a simple 4-step procedure. On the CNC console:

Create a "command" program, like the one shown at right.
Send (punch) the command program from the CNC to the computer.
Wait 5 seconds while the computer processes the command.
Execute a read, input or run command on the CNC. The computer sends the file to the CNC. If an error occurs (for example, if the requested file is not found), Dostek DNC sends an informative message instead.

With Dostek DNC remote commands, you can:

Load programs or data into the CNC memory.
Drip-feed programs directly from the computer.
When drip-feeding, restart from any line in the program, or repeat the same program continuously.
Designate upload and download folders for each CNC, or specify a sub folder in the load command (for example: LOAD T470/4973-OP02).

Saving Programs

Saving programs from the CNC to the computer is also easy:

Punch or output the program to the computer. Dostek DNC automatically saves received data in computer files.

With Dostek DNC remote commands, you can:

Save each program in a separate file. Dostek DNC automatically names files according to the program number or comment found at the start of the file.
Save multiple programs in a single file.
Receive a confirmation message from Dostek DNC each time a file is saved.

Dostek DNC Remote Server

Remote commands are processed by the Dostek DNC Remote Server application.

Dostek DNC Remote Server lets you monitor system activity. Active CNCs are listed in table form, and events are logged in a scrollable window.

Since CNC operators do not need physical access to the computer, you can install it in your office or an equipment room.

Most customers use a dedicated computer to run the Dostek DNC Remote Server. Think of this computer as a "DNC communication server." Dostek DNC works with wired and wireless Ethernet/serial adapters, and multi-port serial boards. You must install the hardware and/or device drivers on the same computer as the Dostek DNC Remote Server software.
